Question About Zoom G1on Pedal

Post by Know-dem-scales » Wed Apr 22, 2020 4:22 pm

I have a Zoom G1on and really like it. I just bought an Acoustic G20 Lead Series amp. The amp has no effects. If I create a patch on my Zoom pedal, do I need an amp sim effect? Is that just for recording to a PC? My thinking is my Acoustic amp will have a super clean sound dialed in. If I create a patch on the Zoom with just overdrive and say reverb, I shouldn’t need to add an amp effect like a Marshall or Bogner, right? Thanks.

Hi,
it’s exactly as you are thinking. If you are using the ZOOM with your amp rather than your headphones, or a P.C. and DAW you will need to turn the Amp Sim off. If your amp has an effects loop, (although it’s not essential if it hasn’t) I’d also use it there rather than straight into the front of your amp.
You can use the Amp Sims if you are using a FRFR speaker as they don’t colour the sound. They appear to have recently become very popular and the preferred way to go with a multi-FX especially for gigging.
Hope this helps.
Cheers,
Si.
